🌺 Mahalaya Paksham 🌺
-
A Sacred Time to Remember Our Ancestors.
Mahalaya Paksham, also known as Pitru Paksha, is a sacred period in the Hindu tradition dedicated to remembering and honoring our Pitru Devatas — our departed parents, grandparents, ancestors, and forefathers. -
During these holy days, devotees express gratitude to those through whom we received this precious human life, our family traditions, values, and blessings. Families traditionally perform Tarpanam, Shraddham, Pitru Puja, charity, and Anna Daanam with devotion and humility.
-
It is believed that sincere prayers and offerings made during Mahalaya Paksham bring Pitru Anugraham — the blessings of our ancestors — to the family and future generations.
-
Mahalaya Paksham also reminds us of an important Dharma:
We should never forget those who came before us. Gratitude to our ancestors is gratitude for the very life we enjoy today. -
🙏 Importance of Anna Daanam
-
Among the many forms of Daanam — sacred giving — Anna Daanam, the offering of food, holds a very special place.
-
“Anna Daanam Maha Daanam”
The gift of food is one of the greatest gifts. -
Food directly sustains life. When a hungry person is served with love and respect, the offering becomes more than a meal—it becomes an act of Seva, compassion, and Dharma.
-
During Mahalaya Paksham, offering food in remembrance of departed ancestors is considered especially sacred in many Hindu traditions. Devotees perform Anna Daanam with the prayer that the punya of the seva may be offered in memory of their parents and ancestors.
-
By sponsoring or participating in Anna Daanam, we:
-
• Honor and remember our ancestors
• Express gratitude for their sacrifices and blessings
• Feed devotees and those in need
• Perform a meaningful act of Seva and Dharma
• Pray for peace and spiritual well-being of the departed
• Seek Pitru Anugraham for harmony, prosperity, health, and well-being of the family -
🌼 Feed with Love • Remember with Gratitude • Serve with Devotion 🌼
-
During this sacred Mahalaya Paksham, let us remember our ancestors with reverence and offer Anna Daanam in their loving memory.
-
May Sri Bhakta Hanumaan bless all our families, and may the blessings of our Pitru Devatas always remain with us.
